October 26th-31st

Bison Families,

Parent-Teacher Conferences are next week. We invite all parents and guardians to attend. We value partnering with families to support your student's success toward college, career, or military pathways! We look forward to seeing our families on campus as we work together to support our students. 

Conference Schedule & Locations
October 29th:
  • Thursday 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Location: Commons, Large Gym, and Small Gym for open-format teacher conferences. 
October 30:
  • Friday 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM: 
  • Held in Individual Teacher Classrooms for targeted conversations.

Teacher Absences & Communication
If a teacher is absent during conference times, they will send a ParentSquare notification with contact information so you can reach out to discuss any questions or concerns about your student.

Grades Posted for Review
To support productive, data-informed conversations during conferences, we will officially post and update student grades in Infinite Campus by 3:00 PM on Thursday. Please review your student’s progress before arriving.

Special Parent Resource Sessions
In addition to standard conferences, we are hosting dedicated counseling and resource presentations led by School Counselor Mr. Jesse Orcutt in Room D 102. 

These sessions help you navigate grading systems, use South High School resources, and support student success. 
  • Presentation Times: 4:30 PM, 5:30 PM, 6:30 PM, and 7:30 PM 
  • Location: Room D 102 
  • Topics Covered: Parent involvement, South HS resources, navigating grades, and success stories

TUESDAY: B-Day
WEDNESDAY: A-Day
  • Parent Advisory 5:30 pm to 7:30 PM (Football update from last meeting)
THURSDAY: 1/2 B-Day
  • Half Day Bell Schedule
  • 1st: 7:45 - 8:34
  • 2nd: 8:39 - 9:28
  • 3rd: 9:33 - 10:22
  • 4th: 10:27 - 11:15
  • Teacher Plan Time 12 to 3 pm (Post Grades)
  • PTC 4 pm to 8 pm.
FRIDAY: No Students
  • PTC 8 am to 11 am in the commons
  • Trick or Treat Street from 3 to 5
  • All staff are welcome to bring their families for a warm trick-or-treating experience.
 

PSAT: October 27th

Students taking the PSAT, make sure you have downloaded the Bluebook on Mosyle Manager and have logged into the testing app. There are even a few practice questions to familiarize yourself with the platform. -GOOD LUCK!
 

The Great Green Been Challenge

The GREEN BEAN BOWL is heating up, and things are getting BEAN-tastic!

Here are our current standings:
🏆 C-Pod Up: 669 cans — STILL the reigning champions! Is anyone brave enough to challenge them?!
 B-Pod Up & Down: 49 cans — OKAY, B-POD! We see you making moves! 👀
D&E Pod: 13 cans — We've got some beans on the board!
A-Pod Up: 2 cans — Every bean counts!
C-Pod Down: 2 cans — You've got some catching up to do!
 A-Pod Down: 1 can of green beans & 2 cans of chili — We appreciate the enthusiasm, but the chili doesn't count! GREEN BEANS ONLY! 
 
That's a GRAND TOTAL of 736 cans collected by South High alone!

Last week, we weighed in at a WHOPPING 509 POUNDS of green beans! 

Our goal? BEAT the other two high schools! But more importantly, let's come together to fill some pantries and feed families in our community!

AIM For 90: Attendance Matters

As we near the end of Quarter 1, please remember our attendance policy to ensure you do not lose credit in your courses:
  • Attendance Contract Meetings: Administration will begin setting up an attendance contract meeting once a student reaches 10 absences.
  • The 20-Absence Limit: Students will lose credit or be dropped from a course (receiving a grade of "W") if they miss 20 or more classes in a semester, regardless of their current course grade. This is due to insufficient seat time.
  • What Counts: Both excused and unexcused absences count toward your total number of classes missed.
  • Exceptions: Absences for official school-sponsored activities do not count toward your total.
Please monitor your attendance closely and reach out with any questions or concerns.
